The James Restaurant

Looking for the perfect spot to bring everyone together? Our upstairs restaurant “The James”, named after the pub’s first licensee James Roche, is made for good times, great food and memorable celebrations. From milestone birthdays and engagement parties to work events, long lunches and everything worth raising a glass to, our upstairs restaurant is a flexible private space that can be tailored to your occasion. With views overlooking the leafy Erskineville Oval, the space can host up to 56 guests seated for a full table-service feast. Prefer something a little more lively? We can shake up the room for a cocktail-style celebration of up to 80 guests, with plenty of space to mingle, sip and snack. Big celebration or casual get-together, your party starts upstairs.

When planning something special, you can enjoy exclusive use of the entire restaurant to create a celebration and experience that’s completely your own. Our room hire is free, from Friday to Sunday, the minimum spend is $3,000 across food and/or bar tab. A minimum of 3 hours for a bar person is also required ($50 per hour Mon-Fri and $75 Sat-Sun). From Monday to Thursday, midweek celebrations come with a little more flexibility. There’s no minimum spend, with the only requirement being food catering for a minimum of 30 guests. A $500 deposit will reserve the space with full food costs being paid a week out from your event.
